Wear the Thing
The outfit still in the bag with the tags on? That's the one we want to shoot.
You know that piece you bought a while back that made you feel like an absolute moment when you tried it on in the fitting room — and then you got home, hung it up, and it's just been sitting there ever since? Yeah, that one. Bring it. That's exactly what this is for. A lot of people show up to their shoot with the safe stuff — the cute but comfortable, the tasteful, the "I could wear this to brunch" options — and there's nothing wrong with that. But we want you to also bring the thing that makes you go okay maybe not in public. The heels that are still in the box. The lingerie with the tags still on. The pearls you bought because you thought they were gorgeous but haven't found a reason to wear. This is the reason.
Think about it this way — a shoot like this is basically a permission slip. There's no dress code out here, no occasion to dress for, no one to answer to. It's just you, a camera, and a space where being a little extra is literally the point. That holographic bodysuit you've been holding onto? Perfect. The rhinestone headpiece that felt too dramatic for wherever you were going to wear it? Bring it. The strappy lingerie set that's been folded neatly in your drawer waiting for the right moment? This is the right moment. We've shot pearls draped as a top, pasties with tassels, glitter mesh bodysuits, full goddess crowns — nothing is too much in here because "too much" doesn't exist in this studio.
The images that hit the hardest are almost always the ones where someone brought the thing they almost left at home. There's a confidence that comes with wearing something you genuinely love, even if — especially if — it's a little bold. You can feel it in the photo. It's the difference between someone who's dressed and someone who's in it. So when you're packing your bag before your session, go back to the closet one more time and grab the thing you almost talked yourself out of. Nine times out of ten, that's the outfit that ends up being your favorite shot of the day.
